Full Vehicle Service Checklist

• Fit protective seat cover and floor mat

Lighting and visibility

• Check operation of external lights
• Check security and condition of external lights and clean
• Check windscreen for damage
• Check operation and condition of wiper blades
• check windscreen washer operation and adjust jets

Internal checks

• Diagnostic scan
• Check brake servo function
• Check clutch operation (manual)
• Check operation of seatbelts
• Check instrument panel and report any warning lights
• Check operation and sound quality of horn
• Check operation of switches and controls
• Check interior lights
• Check steering for freeplay
• Check parking brake
• Check seat backs for security
• Check all views to rear
• Check cabin filter condition and recommended replacement interval
• Air con temp after 1 minute running

External

• Check and report any obvious body or paint damage
• Check Security and condition of external mirrors
• Check number plates
• Check fuel cap seal
• Lubricate all door hinges, latches and bonnet catch

Engine Bay

• Battery health check
• Alternator charge test rate
• Starter motor effectiveness test
• Test brake fluid and check replacement interval
• Check and top up under bonnet levels, not transmission
• Visually check condition and tightness of auxiliary drive belt
• Check spark plug condition (where possible) and advise on replacement interval
• Visually check coil packs and leads
• Visually check radiator and coolant hoses
• Check antifreeze and advise on replacement interval
• Check coolant reservoir cap for seal
• Visually check fuel pipes and hoses
• Check fuel filter condition and replacement interval
• Check for oil leaks
• Drain and refill engine oil
• Replace engine oil filter
• Replace air filter
• Advise timing belt replacement interval
• Check condition and security of undertrays and engine covers

Steering and suspension

• Check suspension bushes for wear and movement
• Check steering and suspension components for freeplay and corrosion
• Check steering rack and gaiters for security and damage
• Check all shock absorbers for leakage and wear
• Check all coil springs for fractures and breaks
• Check all wheel bearings for roughness and freeplay
• Check driveshaft gaiters for corrosion and damage

Braking system

• Check brake pads for wear
• Check brake discs for wear and condition
• Check all brake hoses for age, cracking, damage and leaks
• Check all brake pipes for damage, corrosion and leaks
• Check condition of parking brake cables for damage and security
• Check all brake calipers for leaks and security
• Remove and inspect brake drums if no damage will occur
• Check brake shoes if drum removal is possible, excludes parking brake shoes
• Check wheel cylinders for correct operation and leaks

Wheels and tyres

• Check road wheel fixings for damage
• Check road wheels for damage and corrosion
• Check tyre tread depths
• Check age of tyres
• Check tyres for bulges and cuts
• Check tyre sizes are correct
• Check tyres are fitted correctly
• Check and adjust tyre pressures
• TPMS inspection

Vehicle underside

• Check exhaust system for corrosion leaks and security
• Check for abnormal exhaust smoke
• Check vehicle chassis for damage and corrosion

Final checks

• Complete vehicle stamp and service record
• Reset service indicators where applicable
• Road test vehicle
• Recheck under bonnet levels
